Helloall, So as a new forum member I'd like to say I have recently bought a 2016 Passat GTE and I am quite happy about the car. Long story short, the dealer (not VW) has said that the timing is a chain and not belt. Upon my own investigation (reading various threads here and other forums) it appears to me that the engine is actually a belt.

Thetiming belt replacement intervals are different depending on what model year and engine you have in your Citroën Berlingo. Further down on this page you will find information about the intervals for different years and engines. Also keep in mind that some motors have a timing chain. These usually do not need to be replaced.

Re 2.0 TDI Passat B6 timing belt change – 07-12-2016, 09:42 AM. The oil pump is a known failure item on earlier Passats with PD series engines. And even some early CR series engines on later Passats. It's because the hex key oil pump drive shaft and key way are an imperfect fit. A design fault that VW won't own up to.
